Failsworth Hats 1903

Failsworth Hats are a well-established Manchester hat brand who we have worked closely with for since 2013.

We first started working with Failsworth hats when branding agency Contrast Creative were approached to help them revitalise their branding. Working alongside Failsworth’s new authentic logo and richer colour palette, we were able to step in with a new vision for the brands creative photography.

Each year we undertake two seasonal product brochures which consists of us planning and shooting the full scope of lifestyle and studio photography. After working with the brand for such a long time we have built a strong rapport, allowing us to push boundaries with new concepts and locations for each new season’s look.

The photography takes two parts. We do a day of product photography with a model for the ladies wear plus additional time without model for the men’s product.

Making up a large part of the brochure, the images need to be engaging whilst allowing the products to be clearly seen.

lifestyle photography

Each year we take a look to find a suitable location. Over the years we’ve been able to shoot around the UK including in Saddleworth, Portmeirion, York, Chester and good old Manchester City centre.

In addition to location scouting and dealing with the hire, permits and risk assessments we source models, make up artists and stylists.

The days are long but fun. With careful planning and scheduling, plus the hardwork of our lovely team, we always get our shots!

Post production

Back in the studio we take our time selecting the best images to be edited. All images are colour graded and professionally retouched so the product and scene look immaculate. Over the years we have developed a look and feel for the photography that has become a part of their brand. Our design team drop these images into the brochure design and it’s ready to go off to print.

Each year we look forward to working with Failsworth Hats and it never disappoints.
